Former Clayton High School star Chris Archer had a terrific pitching performance for the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.
Archer, named to the American League all-star team earlier in the summer, pitching a stellar one-hit shutout as the Rays beat the Houston Astros 1-0 at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
Archer walked the leadoff hitter in the game, Jose Altuve, and then retired 26 of the next 27 hitters. He needed only 98 pitches in the game and earned his 11th pitching victory of the season, striking out 11.
