Quarterbacks Have Big Day in Wake County

RALEIGH—A couple of Wake County quarterbacks put their names in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association football record book with huge performances last Friday night.

Panther Creek beat Leesville Road at Leesville’s Hamilton Stadium by a 54-48 score in a wild high school football game in which both quarterbacks were remarkable.

Senior quarterback Clay Vick of Leesville was 38 of 59 through the air for an amazing 659 yards and five touchdowns, just eight yards short of the existing NCHSAA record for passing yardage in a game.

The opposing QB, Dom Samson of Panther Creek, threw for 474 yards and seven TDs, connecting on 23 of 37 passes, and the seven TD passes earned Samson a performance listing.  He threw six touchdown passes in the first half, as Panther Creek rolled up a 48-28 advantage at the break.

Congratulations to both Clay Vick and Dom Samson!
