CHAPEL HILL—Ken Brown has begun working with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association as its sports medicine consultant.
The NCHSAA Board of Directors approved the part-time position during its meeting in May.
He will be working with the Association and its member schools to ensure compliance with NCHSAA health and safety initiatives as well as provide guidance with regard to sports medicine and health and safety issues encountered by member schools.
Brown is a licensed athletic trainer and has worked as an athletic trainer as well as a teacher at a number of North Carolina schools. He received his B.S. in health and physical education from Liberty University in 1979 and his master’s in human development and learning from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1984.
During his work, Ken will no doubt be traveling across the state and visiting a number of NCHSAA member schools.
“We look forward to working with Ken and know that he will be able to assist our member schools in a number of important ways,” said Que Tucker, NCHSAA interim commissioner. “He will be able to help ensure that our student-athletes have a safe, healthy environment in which to participate, and that schools are in compliance with appropriate NCHSAA regulations in this area.”
