PITTSBORO—A Northwood High School running back ran his way into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association football record book last Friday night.
Montel Goods tied a school record by rushing for seven touchdowns in a 63-0 victory over Carrboro—and he only carried the ball 14 times in the game. The seven rushing touchdowns earns a performance listing spot in the NCHSAA book. The state record for rushing touchdowns is eight, and there have now been 11 recorded performances of a player running for seven touchdowns.
Goods rushed for 204 yards on the night in the win over Carrboro. MaxPreps now lists him with 723 rushing yards on the season.
Congratulations to Montel Goods and our thanks to Northwood for providing appropriate documentation for the listing of the record.
