BOONE– Watauga High School has named David Lee as its new head baseball coach.
Lee replaces Pete Hardee, who has taken over as the head baseball coach at Alexander Central.
For the last two years, Lee has been an assistant football and baseball coach at Richmond Senior, coaching with then head football coach Paul Hoggard and baseball coach Ricky Young.
In 14 years as a head coach, Lee has compiled a record of 263 wins against 133 defeats while leading the programs at West Stanly High School and Richmond Senior.
Lee's teams posted eight consecutive 20-win seasons and eight consecutive regular season conference championships between the Rocky River and Midsoutheastern Conferences, following Lee's return from military service in Iraq in January 2004.
Lee has coached a total of seven different conference Most Valuable Players, and has earned named conference coach of the year honors on three occasions.
