COMPLIANCE CORNER

a quick question concerning rules, regulations and policies of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association

Q:  We are at School C, and we are going to play both School A and School B later in the season.  A and B are playing this week, so we want to go and video the game for study since we play them both. Is this legal?

A: The answer is no. Rule 2.3.16 in the current edition of the NCHSAA Handbook speaks this to: “filming, video taping or video streaming of a contest or scrimmage by nonparticipating schools, in any sport, is considered unsportsmanlike conduct, subject to a $400 fine, unless agreed upon by competing teams.”  If School C is videoing a game between A and B, then that is video by a nonparticipating school, subject to the fine, etc.
