Through partnership with the NCHSAA, FloSports has designated funds to be used towards scholarship support of one male and one female track and field student-athlete at NCHSAA member schools. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The 2023-24 recipients of the FloSports Scholarships are Ellie Harrington from South Brunswick High School and Cooper Rogers from New Hanover High School.
Ellie Harrington ran outdoor track for four years, cross country for three, and swam for one in her team at South Brunswick High School. She was All-Conference twice as a member of the cross country team and 3A East All-Region First team three times. She was team MVP twice as a part of the track team and once on the cross country team. Harrington is the Secretary of the Key Club, the Student Council, and the National Honor Society and is the Founder and President of the Women’s Literature Book Club. She also volunteers as a coach for the middle school track team. She has a 4.0 unweighted GPA and plans to major in Business and Enterprise Management. “Ellie Harrington is perhaps the fiercest competitor I have ever known, in and outside of the academic arena,” said Brad Carey, her school counselor. “She is a champion in the classroom, undeterred and unafraid of any challenge that confronts her.”
Cooper Rogers ran track and cross country all four years at New Hanover High School and reached the Regional Championships all three times in cross country. He was given the Coach’s Award for Sportsmanship and the Wildcat Award. Rogers has a 4.0 unweighted GPA and volunteers his time with a multitude of organizations. He is a member of the New Hanover Finance Club, event coordinator for the Lyceum Fundraising Event, volunteer with the Junior Lyceum Academy, volunteer for the Beach to Battleship Ironman, Operation Christmas Child, Wilmington Junior Golf Academy, and helped paint a mural on the fieldhouse. He is also dual-enrolled at North Carolina School of Science and Math. “He is an exceptional young man who not only excels in running, academics, and leadership but also dedicates himself to making positive contributions to both the school and our wider community,” said Susan Lew, his cross country and track field coach. “I am confident that Cooper will continue to thrive and make a meaningful impact in any endeavor he pursues.”
