            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Southern Lee outdueled Union Pines 63-55 in a Cape Fear Valley 3-A high school football game. There were seven touchdowns in the first quarter alone, which ended with Union Pines on top 28-21, and the two teams combined for more than 800 yards rushing in the game. Southern Lee's Aaron Blockman ran for 279 yards in 15 carries.
