            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, North Gaston took top honors in the large varsity division and also captured the Carolina Cup in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state invitational cheerleading championships at Reynolds Coliseum. The Cup is awarded for the highest cumulative score in the competition.
