Several additions have been made to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book in men’s soccer, with players earning performance listings in a couple of different categories.

       Landon Goodman of Salisbury ended his prep career as the Hornets won the NCHSAA state 2-A championship over Washington, and he closed his senior season with a whopping 66 goals on the year.  That ties him for third all-time for goals in a single season.

       Goodman wound up with 113 goals for his career, which is now in the top 30 all-time.

       His Hornet teammate Joshua Lynch earned a performance listing with 38 assists for the 2015 season, the eighth-best single season achievement in that category.

       Nick Hughes of Franklin Academy was the Most Valuable Player in the NCHSAA state 1-A championship as he led his team to a 3-1 triumph over Community School of Davidson.

       Hughes had three goals in the championship game, with his hat trick giving him a total of 55 on the season.  That puts Hughes 13th on the all-time single season list. 

       The state record for goals in a single season is 92, established by Surry Central’s Michael Richardson in 2002 after he had set the state record the year before with 87.
