WEEK 37 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

­­­Each week, two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.  

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 37 of the NCHSAA competition are Charlotte Jackson from Cardinal Gibbons and Carson Bertagnole from Pinecrest.

Jackson, a senior midfielder for the Crusaders Lacrosse team, was named MVP of the 4A State Championship Game on Friday at Durham County Memorial Stadium as her team beat Charlotte Catholic 19-7. Jackson scored six goals and added four assists for the Crusaders as they won their third consecutive NCHSAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Bertagnole, a junior on the Patriots golf team, won the 4A Individual State Championship on Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 9 with matching 68s to post an eight-under-par 136 for the two-day event. Not only did he win the individual title and lead his team to the team championship, but he also made a hole-in-one on the ninth hole of the first round.
