WEEK 39 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Each week, two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.  

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for the final week of NCHSAA competition are Braden Burress from Greene Central and Macie Crutchfield from Southwestern Randolph.

Crutchfield, a junior for the Cougars, went 4-for-7 at the plate in the 2A Championship Series with two RBIs and a run scored. She also pitched two complete games, striking out 19 batters in 12 innings and allowing just two runs on seven hits. She was named MVP of the series as Southwestern Randolph won its fifth NCHSAA Softball Championship.

Burress, a senior for the Rams, went 3-for-7 at the plate in the 2A Championship series and scored a pair of runs. He also earned the save in Game 1 and the win in Game 2 as he tossed a complete game. In eight innings on the mound he struck out three, gave up 12 hits and five runs (three earned). He was named MVP as Greene Central won its sixth NCHSAA Baseball Championship.
