Fourth round games, except one 2A Women's game between T.W. Andrews and North Pitt (postponed by team illness for T.W. Andrews) were all completed last night in the NCHSAA Basketball Playoffs.
The fourth round saw packed gymnasiums and exciting action all across the state. Just in the 4A East two teams made impressive comebacks. Millbrook trailed Garner by as many as 19 before the Wildcats managed to shoot their way back into the game as Trejon Jacob hit three consecutive three-pointers in three possessions during the third. The Wildcats fell just short of Garner 92-88 as Thomas Allen helped pull the Trojans past Millbrook late with a mini 6-0 run of his own.
In Cary, the top-seeded Imps trailed New Hanover by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter before turning on the defense and turning up the offense. Cary took the lead in the final minute, but New Hanover forced overtime. The Imps momentum was too strong and carried Cary to a 58-49 victory and regional final berth.
