FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday, July 16th, thirteen NCHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Council Members (S.A.A.C) presented to over 40 NC Athletic Directors at the 2024 NC Coaches Clinic held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The preparation and dedication from the SAAC members contributed to the success of this presentation. We appreciate the athletic directors in attendance for listening to us and hopefully receiving beneficial information and insight.
This year’s theme, created from the ideas and passions of the student-athletes on the NCHSAA SAAC team, focuses on “Student-Athlete Support,” addressing how athletic departments, coaches, and other student-athletes can support student-athletes both inside and outside of school.
Creating a positive culture and environment on a team, as well as addressing mental health, were two topics additionally discussed in the presentation. These topics align with our theme of Student-Athlete Support. As a SAAC team, we created our mission statement for this year:
With a focus on this year’s theme of “Student-Athlete Support,” we strive to:
- Create Positive Environments on Athletic Teams
- Athletic Departments (Coaches/ADs/School Admin) Supporting Student-Athletes
- Student-Athletes Supporting other Student-Athletes
We hope that Athletic Directors, Coaches, and Athletic Departments continue to cultivate a culture of acceptance, competition, and growth.
Be sure to be on the lookout for regional and state initiatives this year. More information will be coming soon.
We would like to thank the NCHSAA, NCADA, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, all North Carolina High School Athletic Directors and Coaches, and most importantly, Joe Franks, from the North Carolina Coaching Clinic.
