FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – In a blowout win over E.E. Smith, Cape Fear junior Haley Cashwell went 4-for-4 including a home run. The monster day at the plate sent Cashwell past Alexander Central's Bailey Rhoney on the state record list for consecutive games with a hit as Cashwell reached the 34-game plateau, eclipsing the mark of 33 set by Rhoney back in March 2014.
Cashwell began her streak back in 2013 as the Colts played Alexander Central in the State Championship series on June 7, 2014. Cashwell also holds the NCHSAA record for consecutive at bats with a hit, going 22 at bats in a row last year with base hits. She is fifth all-time on the NCHSAA hits in a season list.
