North Buncombe Freshman Golfer Does It Again

NORTH BUNCOMBE FRESHMAN DOES IT AGAIN

North Buncombe High School female golfer Callista Rice recently recorded another phenomenal nine-hole score.

Rice, a freshman who has been medalist in all nine regular-season matches she has played to date, recently fired a five-under par 31 at the Marion Lake Golf Club. The non-conference match had five schools competing.

Rice was at even par through the first five holes, but birdied the sixth, seventh and eighth before holing out an eagle on the ninth.

Earlier in September she had recorded a five-under 31 in the all-Western North Carolina Golf Tournament at Forest City Country Club.

The record for nine holes in NCHSAA women’s golf is 29, jointly held by Ashley Thompson of Pisgah in 2012 and Emilia Migliaccio of Athens Drive earlier this fall.
