Chapel Hill Names New Athletic Director

DURHAM — Chapel Hill High School has named its new athletic director, according to media reports including the Durham Herald-Sun.

Tim Bennett, currently athletic director at Roanoke Rapids High School, will assume the AD duties at Chapel Hill, replacing Tod Morgan. Bennett has been athletic director at Roanoke Rapids for six years and was the head football coach there prior to thtat.

Morgan had announced earlier that he would take a position as head men’s basketball coach at Charles B. Aycock High School in Wayne County. Morgan was also the men’s basketball coach at Chapel Hill.

Bennett had coached football at Northern Durham during the tenure of head coach Ken Browning, who regularly had the Knights as a strong contender for state title honors.

According to a spokesman for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system, Bennett is expected to start work at Chapel Hill in late October.
