Cherryville Names Several New Coaches

        CHERRYVILLE— Cherryville High School has named several new coaches to its athletic staff, including head coaches in softball and women’s basketball, according to the Gaston Gazette.

        Angie Walls is the new head softball coach, replacing interim head coach Callie Hahn.  Franklin Allen will be the new women’s basketball coach, taking over for Donna Lavery, who resigned during the summer.

        Walls graduated from Cherryville, where she played both basketball and softball, and went on to play softball at Gardner-Webb University.  She has been an assistant softball coach at Cherryville for one year and at Kings Mountain for two seasons.  She will teach algebra and geometry at Cherryville.

        Allen is also a Cherryville High graduate from 2000 and played basketball and baseball for the Ironmen.  He is in his second year as a science teacher at the Gaston County school and was head soccer coach there a year ago.

        Another new coaches include Austin Reep as head cross country coach, Jeff Henley as the junior varsity men’s basketball coach and Seth Freeman, an assistant coach with both men’s soccer and baseball.

        Reep is a North Lincoln graduate who recently graduated from the Universty of North Carolina Charlotte. He is a first-year history teacher.
