Robbinsville Running Back Has Huge Night

A Robbinsville High School running back had a huge night on Friday to earn a performance listing in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association football record book.

Robbinsville junior Cruz Galaviz ran wild as his team downed East Henderson by a 48-26 count. Galaviz carried the ball only 13 times but rolled up 374 yards rushing and six touchdowns in his  team’s victory.

Galaviz scored on runs of 80, 64, 65, 41, 47 and 32 yards, averaging an amazing 28.7 yards per carry for the contest.

T.J. Logan of Northern Durham set the NCHSAA state rushing record for a single game with a 510-yard performance in the state 3-A championship game last December.

The statistics were quoted in several different stories in the Asheville Citizen-Times. Congratulations to Cruz Galaviz on a great performance.
