DAVID HICKS HONORED BY N.C. SOCCER COACHES
David Hicks of Northern Vance High School has received a presitigious soccer honor.
Hicks, who formerly coached both men’s and women’s soccer at Northern Vance, has been inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Field of Honor, according to the Henderson Daily Dispatch.
According to the paper, The Field of Honor award honors high school coaches for their accomplishments and services to the sport on the local, state and national levels. Both on-the-field achievements and “selfless dedication to the betterment of the high school game” are the barometers for success. Coaches must also have served the NCSCA for a minimum of 15 years to be eligible.
Hicks became head coach of both soccer programs at Northern Vance in 1995. He coached the women’s team through spring of 2011. He has also coached in the North Carolina Coaches’ Association East-West soccer all-star game in Greensboro as well as the Clash of the Carolinas, featuring a North Carolina all-star squad against their counterparts from South Carolina.
