Baseball Marks Added To NCHSAA Book

Several new marks have been added recently to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book in baseball.

Riverside-Martin accomplished a feat in the third round of the playoffs which has been documented seven times previously in NCHSAA baseball. The team hit two grand slams in the same inning, both in the bottom of the first, en route to a 15-2 victory over Perquimans in the third round of the NCHSAA playoffs.

Another performance listing has been added in the category of stolen bases. Omar Rincon of Granville Central stole 48 bases this season, the second best mark documented for the record book behind T.Midgett’s 51 for Cape Hatteras during the 2001 season.

On two occasions this season Rincon swiped eight bases, in games against Louisburg and also against Durham School of the Arts. That total of eight is one off the single-game mark, also currently held by Midgett.

Ken McDowell of Gray’s Creek tripled in his team’s playoff loss to Orange, giving him 16 triples for his career. He is now the new leader in that category.
