CARY—One of the most outstanding softball players in North Carolina High School Athletic Association history has been named the new head softball coach at Green Hope High School, according to various media reports including the Raleigh News and Observer.

Morgan Childers, who had a record setting career at Kings Mountain and helped lead her team to state championships in 2005 and ’06, will lead the Green Hope softball program.

A graduate of the Univeristy of South Carolina Upstate, where she holds a number of school softball records and was a four-time all-Atlantic Sun Conference selection, Childers will teach English and coach softball.

She was the pitching coach at Campbell University in 2011 and last year guided the Holly Springs High School junior varsity team.
