WEEK 1 | Students from Athens Drive and Pasquotank receive Performance of the Week awards

CHAPEL HILL— Kelly Kaufmann from Athens Drive High School and Jalen Haist from Pasquotank County High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.

Kaufmann, a senior on the Athens Drive Volleyball team, set a career-high with 21 kills on 29 attempts vs. Holly Springs last Thursday.  In addition to her personal best in kills, Kaufmann recorded 9 blocks and 5 digs as the Jaguars erased an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth set.

Haist had a great week for the Panthers Men’s Soccer team. The junior striker scored seven goals in two matches including a 5-goal, 2 assist performance in a 9-0 win over Perquimans.  Haist wrapped up the week by scoring both goals in a 2-2 tie on the road against John A. Holmes High School.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
