New Leaders In Single Season Goals In Women’s Lacrosse

A number of tremendous scoring performances have been documented and added to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book for women’s lacrosse, and several of them have been sent to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) for possible inclusion in the national records.

Sydney Holman of East Chapel Hill, who led her Wildcats to the NCHSAA state championship on Saturday in a 15-13 victory over Charlotte Catholic, finished the 2013 season with a whopping 128 goals, the best season ever documented for the records. She had scored 107 goals last season.

Amy Collins of Marvin Ridge finished the year with 124 goals, which is second-best in history.

Collins had 14 goals in a regular-season game in March against Ardrey Kell and Holman scored 13 in the regional playoff game against Green Hope that saw East Chapel Hill advance to the state championship, 18-12. Both of those performances have been added to the book.

Holman also had five games this season where she tallied 14 or more points, goals and assists combined, and those are now listed in the on-line book.

Marvin Ridge’s Taylor Malseed recorded 76 assists for the season, which is the new single-season record.
