Two high schools in Union County have filled their head football coaching positions.
David Johnson is the new head coach at Cuthbertson, while Dr. Dan Bailey will take over the reins at Marvin Ridge.
Johnson, age 29, was formerly the head coach at Hopewell in Meckleburg County, where he served the last two years. Prior to that Johnson was offensive coordinator at Berry Academy.
Johnson replaces Mike Roark, who resigned in March. Cuthbertson, a relatively new school, is in its fourth year and was 6-6 in the 2012 campaign.
Bailey, who was formerly an assistant at Marvin Ridge, has been promoted to head coach, according to the Union County Public Schools. He coached outside linebackers and served as strength and conditioning coach at Marvin Ridge last year and has 23 years of coaching experience, including stints in Georgia and South Carolina.
The new coach replaces Scott Chadwick, who coached Marvin Ridge for five seasons with the team posting a 6-6 mark a year ago.
