CHAPEL HILL— Cheyenne Clonch from West Wilkes High School and Viktor Idhammar from Cary High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators. 

Cheyenne Clonch from West Wilkes High School Clonch, a senior on the West Wilkes Volleyball team, surpassed the 1,000th career kill mark last week while helping the Blackhawks pick up two wins. Cheyenne recorded 22 kills in a 3-1 victory over Alleghany and followed up with 18 kills in a 3-0 victory over Starmount.

Viktor Idhammar from Cary High SchoolIdhammar, a senior on the Cary Cross Country team, placed first in the 5000 Meter run at WakeMed on Tuesday.  His time of 15:57 led the Cary men as they defeated Panther Creek.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages.  The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
