CHAPEL HILL— Meredith Wooten from Princeton High School and Cavanaugh MacQuarrie from Charlotte Catholic High School, have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Wooten, a senior on the Princeton Basketball team, led the Bulldogs to wins in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NCHSAA Women’s Basketball Championships. On Thursday, Wooten recorded 17 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds in a win over North Edgecombe. The senior guard scored 32 points in a 3rd round win over Southside.
MacQuarrie, a senior on the Charlotte Catholic Lacrosse team, scored 7 goals in a 12-11 win over Marvin Ridge on Monday. The senior attackman scored the game-tying goal with 30 seconds left in regulation and then scored the game-winning goal in overtime.
