ASHEVILLE – Izzy McCurry of T.C. Roberson High School has put her name in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book for softball.
McCurry has now blasted 40 career home runs to sit atop of that category in the NCHSAA Record Book with the potential to add to it as the season continues.
The Roberson senior hit seven homers as a freshman, added 12 in her sophomore season and hit 11 as a junior. She has 10 thus far this year.
The previous career mark was 37, held by Sarah Mooney of North Mecklenburg and set during the 2008-11 seasons, including a single-season tying 19 homers as a senior.
Dallas Heaton of Eastern Randolph hit 36 during the same time span, 2008-11, with 19 in her senior season, and is now third in the career standings.
