WALKER WILL GUIDE CONCORD BASKETBALL PROGRAM
CONCORD—The Charlotte Observer has reported that George Walker has been named as the new men’s head basketball coach at Concord High School.
Walker currently is serving as the school’s athletic director and also is an Algebra ( teacher at Concord. He will be coaching varsity for the first time.
Walker will replace Scott Brewer, who has led both Central Cabarrus and Concord to NCHSAA state championship basketball games. Brewer has been a head coach for 20 years and has an overall career mark of 448-158, including 160-21 in six years at Concord. He also has coached at Mount Pleasant.
Walker has been an assistant basketball coach at Concord under both Brewer and former head coach Andy Poplin. He has also coached at the middle school level.
