West To Leave Reagan Coaching Post

WEST TO LEAVE REAGAN FOR FORSYTH COUNTRY DAY

WINSTON-SALEM—The Winston-Salem Journal has reported that Howard West is leaving Reagan High School to become the head men’s basketball coach at Forsyth Country Day.

West, who is age 66, is the winningest active coach in North Carolina with 715 victories to his credit. He coached for 17 years at R.J. Reynolds High in Winston-Salem and then the last eight at Reagan. He also served as athletic director at Reagan for several years.

The veteran who started his coaching career in Virginia and made his first stop in North Carolina at Eden Morehead. Ge became head coach at Reynolds in 1989 and won NCHSAA class 4-A state titles in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

Reagan had a 21-6 record during the 2012-13 campaign and made it to the third round of the NCHSAA playoffs before losing to Greensboro Dudley.
