GASTONIA—Forestview High School’s men’s golf team had a tremendous performance early in the regular season that will garner a place in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association records for non-state tournament play.
The Forestview golf team recorded a four-player team score of 270 for an 18-hole match on Monday, March 18, at the Crowder’s Mountain Golf Club. Par was 72 and the course was set at 6,035 from the white tees.
Seniors Will Long and Alex Taylor each fired six-under scores of 66, while freshman Drew Jurs recorded a 67 and junior Will Blalock had a 71.
The Big South Conference match included Forestview, Hunter Huss, Ashbrook, Crest, South Point, North Gaston and Kings Mountain.
It is the best recorded regular-season score in an 18-hole match, according to the NCHSAA Record Book.
