MADISON SETS NCHSAA SOFTBALL HOME RUN RECORD
MADISON– Madison High School’s softball team has established a new single-season mark for home runs, according to a report in the Asheville Citizen-Times.
Madison, which is unbeaten on the 2013 campaign, slugged nine home runs on Monday in a doubleheader sweep of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, rolling to 26-0 and 31-0 victories. The Patriots are now 17-0 on the season.
The round-trippers pushed Madison’s team total to 43 on the season, with regular season games and then the whole postseason remaining. The previous mark was 40, established last year by Canton Pisgah.
Baylea Loven hit three home runs for the winners in the Monday victories.
