Performance of the Week 1

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

 

The OrthroCarolina Performers of the Week for week one of NCHSAA competition go to Zach Dezern from Starmount High School and Madeline Sigmon from North Iredell High School.

 

Dezern a Senior on the Starmount Football Team did it all Friday night against Forbush High School as they defeated the Falcons 59-0. He ended the night with 14 carries for 273 yards and 4 touchdowns along with 2 receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown. To cap off the night Dezern went 1 for 1 with a 44-yard passing touchdown making him the first player in rams’ history to rush for a touchdown, throw a touchdown and receive a touchdown all in the same game. 

 

Sigmon a Volleyball player from North Iredell High School committed to play Volleyball at Alabama-Birmingham next year, helped the raiders go 3 and 0 last week during competition. In 3 games last week the raiders swept all three matches 3 sets to 0.  Sigmon an outside hitter recorded 34 kills, 25 digs, 6 blocks and 2 aces during the week. She is currently leading North Iredell Raiders to a perfect start as they have started the season 10 and 0.

 

Congratulations to Zach Dezern of Starmount High School and Madeline Sigmon of North Iredell High School on outstanding performance last week!
