Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performers of the Week for week two of NCHSAA competition go to Stella Kermas from Cuthbertson High School and Isaac Weaver from Andrews High School.
Kermes a Junior Cross Country Runner from Cuthbertson High School dominated the field at the Friday Night Lights Cross Country Festival. The field included 9 of the top 10 girls in the state. She finished the race in 17:56 to lead the Cuthbertson Cavaliers to a 147-point victory.
Weaver a Senior on the Wildcats Football Team had a huge impact in all 3 phases of the game offense, defense and special teams as they defeated the defending 1A state runner-up Mitchell Mountaineers. He ended the night with 19 carries for 157 yards and a touchdown along with 2 receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, Weaver had 2 interceptions to go along with 10 tackles. To cap off the night Weaver took a 76-yard punt return to the house as the wildcats defeated the mountaineers 44-27.
