GREENEVILLE, TN – The Tourism Department of the Greene County Partnership and its Sports Council are announcing the dates for the AAU Golf National Championships, to be held once again at Link Hills Country Club here.

The event will feature a “Parent/Junior” competition on Thursday, mandatory rules meeting and practice round on Friday beginning at 1 p.m., and the official tournament beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday which will include a long drive contest and chip and putting contest. Saturday night the Sports Council will host a banquet for the players featuring guest speaker Coach Bob Dibble, golf coach from Tusculum College.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday with awards being presented after each age group leaves the course.

“The event was very successful in 2012, bringing in more than 50 players from seven states and Canada,” stated Tammy Kinser, Tourism Director for the Partnership. “We filled two hotels with our first tournament and plan to more than triple attendance this year with widespread advertising and the help of the Tennessee Golf Association.”

Bill Harper, 2013 AAU National Golf Co-Chair stated, “We are expecting over 100 players for this tournament and are encouraging all youth to come out and play for the Gold Medal against the best in the U.S. and other countries.”
