Barr To Take Over Football At Overhills

SPRING LAKE – Overhills High School has hired Rodney Barr as its head football coach, according to the Fayettevile Observer.

Barr will replace Tim Karrs, who retired after the 2012 season. The Jaguars earned a share of the Cape Fear Valley 3-A Conference title and a berth in the NCHSAA playoffs, finishing 7-5 overall.

Barr spent the 2012 season as an assistant football and head junior varsity baseball coach at South Robeson. Prior to that, he served from 2004-11 as football defensive coordinator and head baseball coach at Wilson High School in Florence, S.C. Wilson won the state 3-A championship in football during the 2007 season.

Barr, from Sellers, S.C., played collegiate baseball and football, the last three of those at Shaw (2001-03).
