Athletes From Forestview, North Pitt Earn NCHSAA Performance Of The Week Awards

CHAPEL HILL— Felicia Berry of Forestview High School in Gastonia and Diamonte Foreman of North Pitt High School are the winners of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with Subway® Restaurants.

Each week one male and one female athlete in NCHSAA competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Berry is a senior who had an outstanding performance last weekend in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A West Regional track and field championships.  Berry led the Forestview team to three regional event titles, winning the 200 meters in 25.95 seconds and running the anchor leg on a pair of victorious relay teams, the four by 100 and the four by 200.  She also finished second in the 100 meters.

That performance enabled Forestview to finish fourth overall in the regional standings, as Berry qualified to the state championships in those events.

Foreman is also an outstanding track performer who helped his North Pitt team win the Eastern Plains Conference men’s track and field championship with a dominating performance.  The North Pitt star won the 100 in a time of 11.14 seconds, took top honors in the 200 (22.99 seconds) and also finished first in the 400 meters in 50.52 seconds.  He topped it off by running the anchor leg on the victorious four by 200 relay team.

Foreman was named the Eastern Plains Conference Runner of the Year and will move on to regional competition.

TWC SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during a SportsNight show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients are also recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
