August 30, 1968 On this day on history in the NCHSAA, Wilson’s Fike High School opened defense of its North Carolina High School Athletic Association state football championship but was shut out by Winston-Salem RJ. Reynolds 9-0.  However, Fike rebounded under head coach Henry Trevathan and went on to win the ’68 crown.
