ASHEVILLE—Several baseball and softball fields in the Buncombe County school system are going to get lights, according to a report in the Asheville Citizen-Times.
BCS Assistant Superintendent Robbie Adell said that a $800,000 project to light six fields should be complete in time for the 2016 season.
The facilities which will get lights include the North Buncombe baseball field, softball at T.C. Roberson, both the baseball and softball fields at Clyde Erwin, Enka’s baseball facility and the A.C. Reynolds softball field.
The Lighting Company and Electrical Construction LLC of Chesnee, S.C., submitted the low bid, but according to the report the school system will save over $30,000 by doing all fields at once instead of spreading out the installation of the lights,
NCHSAA baseball and softball programs can hold their first practices on Feb. 15, 2016 and play their first games on Feb. 29.
