Carver Football Coach Resigns

WINSTON-SALEM— Carver High School head football coach Melvin Palmer has announced his resignation, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Palmer had been head coach at Carver for the last three seasons. He took over for Brent David and coached his team the whole way to the NCHSAA state 2-A championship game in 2010. The Yellow Jackets wound up 12-3 overall that year and lost in the finals to Tarboro, 21-13.

Carver posted an overall record of 11-11 during the past two seasons, losing the opening round of the playoffs each year.
