On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Leesville Road scored two goals in the game’s first 11 minutes and rolled to a 3-0 victory over Ardrey Kell in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s women’s 4-A soccer championship at Paul Derr Stadium at N.C. State. Junior forward Nitang Jones of Leesville Road, with a goal and an assist, was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship as the Pride won its ninth straight match, finishing 24-2 in winning its first NCHSAA women’s soccer title.
