On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Bethel defeated Cool Springs for the championship and Reeds downed Aberdeen for third place in action at Aberdeen billed as the North Carolina Girls’ Basketball State Championship, the forerunner of the actual NCHSAA state championships that came many years later. Bob Lee of Aberdeen helped to organize the event.
