CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR NCHSAA 1-A WOMEN’S TENNIS
APEX — Last year’s runner-up, Lori Wang of Raleigh Charter, has advanced to the singles final after Friday’s opening day of play in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 1-A women’s tennis tournament championships at Middle Creek High School.
Wang will face Mount Airy’s Jordan Jackson in the state title match after they each won a pair of matches in straight sets on Friday and both lost only four games in the process.
In doubles, East Montgomery’s Delana Hinson and Samantha Kellis will take on Nelessa Lewis and Janice Wong of Durham’s North Carolina School of Science and Math in the finals. Both advanced with two straight set victories on Friday.
The doubles final will begin upon conclusion of the singles championship, which starts at nine o’clock Saturday morning.
Wendy’s is the presenting sponsor of the NCHSAA sports program.
