This Day In History

February 1, 1977

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Durham Hillside and Person Roxboro tied a national record and set the NCHSAA record for fewest points scored when Durham Hillside prevailed 2-0 in men’s basketball. The first two points were scored immediately after tip-off and Person held the ball for remainder of the game on account of Hillside’s height advantage; taking one shot at the end of each quarter. There were three fouls in the game and Leon McRae was the game’s leading scorer.
