April 24, 2003

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Athens Drive launched five home runs in a single inning against Apex in high school baseball action. The Jaguars outlasted Apex 18-17 in a NCHSAA slugfest in which Athens Drive hit a total of eight round-trippers in the game. East Rutherford set the NCHSAA baseball record in 1998 with six home runs in one inning.

April 24, 2007

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Art Capper of Charlotte, Joe Jones of Greensboro and Bill Kelly of Raleigh were announced as recipients of the inaugural Golden Whistle Merit Award. The awards for game officials were created in a partnership among the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) and the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association (NCADA).
