This Day In NCHSAA History

            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Anna Tharrington of Southern Nash High School and Nick Maddox of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis received the Pat Best Memorial Awards as the NCHSAA Athletes of the Year for the 1998-99 academic year. Tharrington was a three-sport star in volleyball, basketball and softball, earning Big Eight Conference Player of the Years honor in both volleyball and softball. Maddox was a three-sport star in football, basketball and track, scoring 114 touchdowns and rushing for 6,654 yards during his high school football career.
