            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Columbia’s Michelle Richardson hauled in an astronomical 36 rebounds in a women’s basketball game against Cape Hatteras.

            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, long-time coach Russell Blunt died at the age of 95. He had coached in six different decades and guided Durham's Hillside High to 10 state outdoor track and field championships. He is a member of both the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and the National High School Hall of Fame

            Clayton Somers began as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association general counsel. A native of Reidsville, Somers graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Law. He had been working for OnSport Strategies and then subsequently the Wasserman Media Group in Raleigh since 2004.
