            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, South Johnston blasted two grand slams in one inning versus Harnett Central in high school baseball.

            On this day in history in the NCHSAA. Boonville High School won what to date is the only men’s state basketball championship by a Yadkin County school. .  Boonville, coached by Ed Lakey, beat Red Oak by 67-57 in Durham.  The starting five included seniors Danny Hemric, Chris Stinson, Howard Wilhelm, Eddie Bryant, and Bruce Cline.
