This Day In NCHSAA History

July 13, 2010

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, legendary coach and administrator Dave Harris of Charlotte died just a few days short of his 86th birthday. A graduate of Statesville High School and then of Wake Forest University in 1946, where he played in the first Gator Bowl, Harris is one of only three members of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame's charter class in 1987 after a tremendous coaching career in Charlotte, primarily at Harding High School. He is also a member of the North Carolina Athletic Directors Hall of Fame and the Wake Forest University Hall of Fame.
