     On this day in history in the NCHSAA, quarterback Garrett Leatham of Middle Creek High School attempted 55 passes as his team dropped a 26-16 high school football decision to Garner. He completed 30 of 55.

     On this day in history in the NCHSAA, North Buncombe freshman Callista Rice fired a five-under par 31 for nine holes in a women’s golf tournament held at the Forest City Country Club.  She had an eagle and three birdies during her play.
